Sporting Armaggedon
We didn't expect them to win. We hoped for that improbable upset. If anyone can do it, it's the Answer. But last night the Sixers and Iverson fell short in their quest for a championship and bowed out of the NBA playoffs after a 4-1 defeat by the defending Detroit Pistons. Iverson was a beast as always, Webber had some good shooting nights, and Dalembert ruled the glass, but pretty much no one else contributed. Korver and Iguodala were clearly intimidated on the larger playoff stage and Marc Jackson, while clutch down the stretch in the regular season, couldn't have had more than 3 or 4 field goals in the entire series. As much as I treasure getting to watch AI play night in and night out it increasingly seems that he may never win a title in a Sixers uniform. Still, I think they should be good next year and I may very well pick up a 13-game package next season.
In the meantime though, we are left with nothing to root for in this town. The Phillies are a joke and Ed Wade needs to go. Pre-season football starts in 14 weeks!
NewsMeat.com is a very interesting site I recently discovered. Besides aggregating inane and hilarious headlines (but why no RSS feed?), it also has a political contribution search engine that tracks individual donations of $200 or more since 1977. Some interesting donors: GWB, Bill Gates, Jane Fonda, pro-athletes, pols.
Finally, READ THIS.

I agree with everything you said except about Iguodola. He played 39 minutes, had 9 pts, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocked shots. I thought he was GREAT. I fault Jim O'Brien for not playing Korver more than he did. Korver only played 17 minutes and only took 3 shots. IMO he should've been in taking shots.
